Ian Anderson Task

I firstly looked into how Ian Anderson's style was very ironic and swerved towards controversial irony. I thought about maybe creating a set of posters, that produce ironic statements, that have a slightly humorous tone to them, that could be used as motivational, or just a simple way to make you laugh and cheer you up.

After a discussion with Kieran, We decided to look into motivating people, and giving people a better and longer life, which is what someone would keep forever.

We decided to create some sort of credit card design to give to Ian, which would set him to do lists daily, for a longer, more productive life. We decided to create 7 of these credit card designs to give to ian so he can change the lists, swap them, and alternate his day.

Kieran said there was a man, who lived to a long age of 100, and actually created a list of things he did to live longer. We will take aspects from this list to give ian a more exciting day.

Our Manifest

First published in 1964 and then again in 2000 with additions, the First things first manifesto is a declaration against mechanical, emotionless methods of advertising that were prosperous at the time.

Me and Kieran created a Manifest in the session , the manafest we created is as follows:

  1. Design is to be a lifestyle and to be fully emerged within it is almost compulsory.
  2. Design as a whole - no boundaries within design.
  3. The history of Graphic Design should be greatly appreciated.
  4. Working with a time plan to structure the work we have to do.
  5. Form has to follow function - Ornamentation cannot impede Communication.
  6. A piece of design to experiment has the function of experimenting, the function is in the production and not the finished piece.
  7. A piece of design can have the function of pleasing
  8. A piece of design can have the function of enriching visual aesthetics within an environment.
  9. A piece of design can have the function of communicating emotion or creating inspiration within an audience.
  10. The form of a design will always follow its function, any design with
  11. The second of our tasks was to create a piece of design abiding by the manifesto that Ian Anderson would want to keep forever.
